Colleagues and friends of the 38 year old woman viciously attacked on her way home from work on Monday night have expressed their shock and outrage.
The woman who wishes to remain anonymous is a veterinary surgeon at the Budget Vets Malpas Road surgery. The incident took place on Brynhyfryd Road in the Stow Hill area at around 9.40pm resulting in her receiving hospital treatment for the extensive injuries she received to her head and body.
Peter Heathcote, managing director of Budget Vets said, “The lady concerned has only recently joined Budget Vets and is new to the area. In a short space of time, she has established herself as an integral part of our team and is well liked and respected by all of her colleagues. We are deeply shocked and appalled by this attack and its brutality. It’s nothing short of a miracle that she wasn’t left with life threatening injuries.”
The attacker was a man who is around 20 years of age wearing a grey tracksuit with the hood pulled up. Anyone with any information is asked to call Gwent Police on 101 quoting log number 452 09/03/15 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
