How old do puppies/kittens need to be for their first injections?

For puppies it's from 8 weeks old, and kittens from 9 weeks old.

How old does my pet have to be before I can get it neutered?

Male and female dogs have to be atleast 6 months old, male and female cats from 4 months old, and small furries from 6 months old.

Can my bitch be spayed in season?

No, we have to wait until 12 weeks after the season before she can be spayed to prevent complications during surgery that can occur.

My dog only has 1 testicle can it still be neutered?

Yes it can, but it is a longer procedure and is slightly more expensive.

I am in receipt of benefits, do I get any additional help?

We can get you help with neutering for cats and dogs from the Dogs Trust and Cats Protection, and sometimes treatment with help from the RSPCA, but generally our prices are kept as low as possible for everyone. For more information please contact your local branch who can give you more specific advice in relation to your pets problem

Can you provide Pet Passports?

Yes we do offer pet passports, but to complete them the vet has to do a special course and become an LVI. This means that not all vets are qualified to do passports. Please call your local branch to see where the closest LVI is based within Budget Vets.

Do you accept direct claims from insurance companies?

We can only accept a direct claim if the insurance company is willing to pre-authorise it (can take 3-7 days). We do work with Vetsure who is our affiliated insurance company, and we do accept direct claims from Vetsure clients.

Do you offer payment plans?

Unfortunately not, but we can try and get funding from charities to help with treatment for your pet.

My have lost/found a pet, what shall I do?

Please let us know and we will inform our staff in branches and also post a picture on our lost and found page on Budget Vets Facebook.
